HOT KEYS SX/DX 

Hot keys are special key combinations used to access the setup and power management programs and
adjust the display characteristics. Note that these hot keys will only work under DOS and will have no
effect under Windows. 

<Ctrl> <Alt> S

 

This hot key is used to access the BIOS Setup program. Please refer to Chapter 8 for details of how to
use the setup program. Note that when you exit the setup program the system will always reboot. 

<Ctrl> <Alt> P

 

This hot key is used to access the power management program. This program is used to maximize power
efficiency, which is particularly important when running from the battery. Please refer to Chapter 8 for
details of the features available in the power management program. Note that the system will NOT reboot
when you exit from the power management program and any changes made will be immediately
implemented. [SX/DX 4-8] 

<Ctrl> <Alt> F8 (Monochrome Models Only)

 

Toggles the display of screen images between normal contrast mode and automap contrast mode. In
automap contrast mode, your computer optimizes the contrast automatically for certain applications
software that runs in text mode. 

<Ctrl> <Alt> F9 (Monochrome Models Only)

 

Toggles the display of screen text between normal video mode (black text on white background) and
reverse video mode (white text on black background). 

<Ctrl> <Alt> F10

 

If you connect an external CRT VGA monitor, press and hold down the <Ctrl> and <Alt> keys and press
the f10 function key to toggle between 

Auto

LCD

, 

CRT 

and 

SimulSCAN

 display modes. 

Note that for

the WinBook-Color, only two modes are available, CRT and LCD.

 

For the WinBook-Mono, in Auto mode, if an external CRT is connected, the display will automatically
switch to the CRT monitor; in LCD mode, the display will appear only on the LCD; in CRT mode, the
display will appear only on the CRT; in SimulSCAN mode, the display will appear on both displays at the
same time

. Note that color display models do not support SimulSCAN and only toggle between LCD and

CRT displays.
