Outputs Tab
The outputs tab allows X1 users to set the analog composite output drive, the analog
FM output levels and the AES FM and HD output levels as well as the options for FM
de-emphasis and associated options with the various outputs.
The controls in the Analog L/R section govern the two analog L/R XLR jacks on the rear
of the X1. You can route the L/R HD processing to this output or the L/R FM processing
to this output. The FM processing may be de-emphasized for feeding talent headphones
or a local monitor, and it can also be selected before the X1’s diversity delay for talent
headphone processing when off air monitoring is not possible because of HD delay.
The FM DIGITAL output controls govern the type of output appearing on the AES
XLR connector on the rear of the X1 as well as the level.
The HD DIGITAL output controls govern the output level and options that appear on
the corresponding AES XLR jack on the rear of the X1.
TX1 and TX2 Outputs (Analog MPX)
Sets the peak output amplitude of the MPX 1 and MPX 2 output
on the rear panel BNC connectors respectively. These controls are
used to set total modulation in the presence of audio and can be set
to levels between -24dB and +6.00dB and in 0.05dB steps. Below
-24dB, the control is set to OFF and no signal will appear on the
output. The control setting for approximately 3.5V P-P (1V RMS)
into a 10Kohm load is +2.40dB.
Before setting this control, you should have a calibrated modula-
tion monitor with ample signal so that the correct (and legal) output
level is set. To change the control, left click on the knob and use
the mouse wheel to increase or decrease the value.
TX2 Mode (Analog MPX)
TX 2 mode changes the TX2 composite output on the rear of
the X1 to a 19kHz sine wave synchronizing source for RDS generators. To change this
setting, left click on the knob and use the mouse wheel to switch between MPX OUT and
PILOT. Left click again to confirm your choice.
