Limiter Drive (Basic Control)
The drive to the final lookahead peak limiter is AFTER the 10-band
limiter. The final lookahead limiter has a program dependent attack setting
for precise peak control, but user adjustable release times are available in
the expert mode.
To change the limiter drive, left click on the knob and use the mouse
wheel to increase or decrease the value. The drive control is calibrated in
0.5dB steps. You can also double click on the value and type in a new value
between -6dB and +6dB. If you make an incorrect entry, the control will
round to the next available value.
Bass Enhance (Basic Control)
Governs the amount of enhancement driven into the separate specialized
bass processor/limiter. The control range is -6dB to +12dB in 0.5dB steps
with most presets settling on a value between -3dB to +3dB.
To change the bass enhance drive, left click on the knob and use the
mouse wheel to increase or decrease the value. You can also double click
on the value and type in a new value. If you make an incorrect entry, the
control will round to the next available value.
Multiband Knee (Basic Control)
Changes the knee of the limiter from soft to hard. When in HARD
mode, the limiter thresholds set in the controls in the lower region of the
limiter page are absolute… limiting will begin at the control settings. When
in SOFT, gain reduction beginning to take place 3dB below a band’s ac
-
tual threshold setting with limiting gradually getting harder as it reaches
threshold. In the soft mode, limiting is
more obvious but the audio can also be
smoother, especially on voice. In the
hard mode, limiting is less noticeable
but some peaky material may induce clipping faster.
To change Multiband Knee, left click on the knob
and use the mouse wheel to switch between soft and
hard. Left click again to confirm the change.
L/R Linked (Basic Control)
The Lookahead Limiter normally operates with its left and right channels
un-ganged, which permits each channel to be peak limited independently of the
other. With independent peak limiting program material may be perceptibly louder
than when the limiters are linked though the stereo image may not be maintained
when one channel limits and the other doesn’t.
When the L/R Linked box is checked the left and right channel control signals
are made common and the greater of the two controls both channels equally. The
linked mode therefore prevents unnatural stereo image shifts when one channel
needs to reduce the signal to control peak excursions and the other channel doesn’t.
To switch on or off the link, left click on the knob and use the mouse wheel. Left
click again to confirm the change.
