Carefully press the two wing panels together at the root,
being careful to make sure that the leading and trailing edges
line up evenly.
❑
Repeat the previous procedures to glue the second fiberglass dowel into the aluminum tube and to the leading edge of
the second wing panel. Again, make sure that the dowel is glued completely to the leading edge and that the wing panel
is flat when you glue the dowel into place.
☞
Allow the epoxy to fully cure before proceeding.
Step 3: Installing the Wing Mount and Brace
❑
Carefully set the wing onto the wing mount, making sure
that the aluminum tube is pushed up against the front edge of
the mount and that the centerline of the wing is centered in
the mount. The trailing edge of the wing should be 1/8" in
front of the back edge of the wing mount.
☞
Looking from the bottom of the wing, the curvature of
the wing mount should closely match the curvature of the
wing.
❑
When satisfied with the alignment, remove the wing and set it aside.
❑
Carefully remove the protective backing from the two strips of double-sided tape on the wing mount.
❑
Gently set the wing back into place and realign it. When satisfied with the alignment, carefully push the wing down
into place to secure it firmly to the double-sided tape. Don't worry about the dihedral angle being perfect. The exact
dihedral angle will be set in the next few procedures.
❑
Remove the protective backing from the pieces of double-sided tape on the bottom of the plastic wing brace.
☞
Before proceeding with the next procedure, keep this in mind: the front edge of the wing brace should be pushed up
against the back of the aluminum tube. It should not overlap onto the tube. If any part of the wing brace hangs past the
trailing edge of the wing it can be trimmed off later using a pair of scissors.
❑
With the wing assembly upright on your work table, carefully set the plastic wing brace on top of the wing, aligning
the centerline marks at the front and back of the wing brace with the centerline of the wing.
❑
Mix a small quantity of 5 minute epoxy and apply a thin layer to the leading edge of the second wing panel.
