❑
Mix a small quantity of 5 minute epoxy and glue one
fiberglass wing dowel into one end of the prebent aluminum
tube. Remove any excess epoxy and allow the epoxy to set
up before proceeding.
☞
Be sure to push the dowel completely into the tube.
❑
Mix a small quantity of 5 minute epoxy and apply a thin layer to the leading edge of only one wing panel.
IMPORTANT
In the next procedure make sure that the aluminum tube is angled straight up and not toward the front or back of the wing.
This tube sets the dihedral angle of the wing panels so its alignment is important.
❑
Line up the crease in the middle of the tube with the
inner edge of the wing panel and carefully glue the dowel
to the leading edge of the wing. Remove any excess epoxy
using a paper towel and rubbing alcohol and hold the dowel in
place using pieces of masking tape until the epoxy sets up.
IMPORTANT
When gluing the dowel into place it's important that the dowel
be glued securely to the leading edge and that the wing panel
be perfectly flat until the epoxy sets up.
❑
Using a pair of scissors, cut out a piece of double-sided
tape to the approximate shape of the wing root.
❑
Remove the protective backing from only one side of
the tape and apply the tape to the root edge of the second
wing panel.
IMPORTANT
Two fiberglass dowels and a prebent aluminum tube are provided to strengthen the wing center section joint. For the
strongest joint possible, it's important that these parts be installed correctly. The aluminum tube is prebent to the correct
dihedral angle and the two dowels are designed to be glued to the entire length of the leading edge of the wing. When
gluing the dowels into place, three things are very important: The dowels should be centered on the leading edge, the
dowels should be glued along their entire length (making sure they are pushed firmly against the leading edge) and the
wing panels must be flat when you glue the dowels into place. This will ensure you don't build a warp into the wing.
❑
Remove the piece of protective backing from the double-sided tape that you just attached to the wing root.
