The Ethernet connector mates with standard Ethernet cable.

2.6.3.1

Connecting the Ethernet to chromatography data software

When controlling the detector from chromatography data software (Empower or

MassLynx), you can use the Ethernet interface to send and receive information.

When connecting via the Ethernet to chromatography data software, be aware of the

following:

•

When in dual-wavelength mode, you must select a sampling rate of 1 point per

second in the data system’s method editor.

•

The maximum range of the detector’s time-constant setting depends on the

wavelength mode and sampling rate selected. See

page 64

•

Empower and MassLynx software allow the detector to operate, in both single

and dual-wavelength, modes with a wavelength range of 190 to 700 nm.

To connect Ethernet cables from the detector to chromatography data

software:

1. Connect the single receptacle end of the Ethernet cable to your chromatography

data workstation by attaching the cable to your network card or Ethernet

switch.

Note:

The Ethernet cable is supplied with the workstation.

2. Connect the other end of the cable to the Ethernet connector on the rear panel

of the detector.

Notice:

To avoid possible damage to components, power-off all instruments on

the Ethernet connector before you connect an Ethernet cable to an instrument.

Notice:

To avoid intermittent Ethernet communication failures, ensure

that the maximum total cable length between Ethernet devices in a

system is 20 meters. The maximum recommended cable length between

two Ethernet devices is 4 meters.
