♦ Torque specifications must not be exceeded.
♦ Excessive torque can cause leaks in the area of the oil
drain plug or even damage.
4.33.4 Engine oil: draining and renewing oil fil‐
ter, common rail diesel engines
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Used oil collection and extraction unit - VAS 6622A-
♦ 32 mm hexagon socket insert
♦ Torque wrench - V.A.G 1331-
♦ Oil spill cloth
– Remove “bottom” engine compartment cover (noise insula‐
tion) ⇒ page 78 .
– Disconnect connector -1- from return-flow pump.
– Unclip alternator cable -2- from clip -3- and swing it in
-direction of arrow-.
– Unscrew oil drain plug -1- from screw cap -3- and drain engine
oil.
