4. Installing Upper Nest: See Dwg. 6108 Figure 4
Chev Fasten upper nest to under side of pick-up bed between the second and third bed
cross member from front. Use 1/4"-20 x 3" bolts (2 required) through flange on upper
nest assembly and through second cross member with 1/4" nuts, lock washers and
flat washers (2 each required). Use 1/4"-20 x 3" bolts, 1/4" nuts, lock washers and
flat washers (2 each required) to bolt through upper nest and third cross member.
NOTE: Be sure the upper nest is centered from right to left and against underside of bed
before drilling for 1/4" mounting bolts.
Ford Remove the exhaust shield between the 2nd and 3rd cross member. Weld the small
flange of the filler channel to the side of the upper nest that is notched. The filler
channel is against the 3rd cross member. Fasten the upper nest to the underside of
the pick-up bed same as Chev/GMC.
