5. Installing Longitudinal Pick-up Body Supports - Optional: See Dwg. 6110 Figure 5
(Chev/GMC only)
A. The longitudinal pick-up body supports should be mounted so that the long tube on the
longitudinal support is about 4" from the side of the upper nest on the third bed cross
member from the front. The short tube on the longitudinal supports should be outboard.
The "z" welded on the end of the short tube of the longitudinal support should cap over the
front of the second bed cross member from the front. Use bed bolt to fasten "z" to second
cross member (1 each) described above.
B. The "z" on the other end of the longitudinal support should cap over the first bed cross
member from the rear. Bolt through the first bed cross member from the rear and the "z"
on the longitudinal support with 1/4"-20 x 2-1/2" bolts, 1/4" nuts, washers and lock washers
(2 each required).
C. Bolt longitudinal body supports to the third and fourth bed cross members from the front
with 3/8"-16 x 3" bolts, 3/8" nuts, lock washers and fender washers (4 each required).
Fender washers should be on inside of cross members (See Dwg. 6110 Figure 5).
6. Install Plastic Pads: See Dwg. 6110 Figure 5
Chev The 1/2" x 2" x 4" plastic pads (2 required) are centered over the existing bed bolt
holes on the front bed cross member and fastened with 2-1/4" x 2" self tapping torx
head screws (2 required each pad). The same applies for the 1" x 2" x 4" plastic pads
(2 required), but they are fastened to the fourth bed cross member from the front of
the bed.
Ford Fasten 1/2" x 2" x 4" pads to the 3rd bed cross member from the front. The other pad
same as the Chev / GMC - 4th cross member.
