7. Installing Hoist Main Frame (Scissors Assembly): See Dwg. 6138
(Chev / GMC only)
A. Weld 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 22" long Angle to 2" Square x 44-3/4" long Tube on Base Mounting
Tube Assembly as shown on Dwg. 6138.
B. Install Hoist Main Frame behind the chassis frame cross member, forward of rear axle. Put
a 2 x 4 across the truck frame to support the hoist frame. The 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 22" long
Angle added to the Base Tube in step A caps over the center of the chassis frame cross
member. With the hoist frame centered on the truck frame the 2" x 2" x 44-3/4" long square
tube should rest on the chassis frame rails. The angle that caps the frame cross member
should be fastened on the left side with two 5/16"-18 x 1" bolts going up through the cross
member with two star washers on the under side of the cross member and 5/16" nuts and
flat washers tightened down against the angle. This is done because of interference with
the gas tank on the left side. On the right hand side of the mounting angle the two 5/16"-
18 x 1" bolts can be put down through the angle and cross member with the star washers
and nuts (2 each) on the underside of the frame cross member.
C. Now install the side mounting plates (3/8" x 4-1/2" x 7" with 2-1/16" square hole) by putting
them (1 on each side) over the base mounting tube (2" square - ref.) on each end. Bolt the
side plates to the chassis frame rails with 3/8"-16 x 1-1/2" bolts, 3/8"-16 nuts & 3/8" lock
washers (2 each required on each side). Be sure not to drill through any cables running
along the inside of the frame rails. Weld the ends of the 2" square tube to the outside of
the side plates.
