• Automatic Positioning: Pump can be equipped with an electric stroke posi-
tioner. If applicable, refer to the separate instruction manual provided with
the equipment.
3.4.3 Strength of the Solution
Appropriate dilution of the solution will modify the concentration and, therefore,
the feed rate. This will increase or decrease the amount of solution to be pumped
per unit time. Adjusting the solution concentration can match the feed rate with
the pump’s capabilities and enhance the metering repeatability.

3.5 Calibrating the Pump
Perform calibration on the suction side of the pump against actual back pressure,
so that piping will not have to be disturbed nor the pumping process interrupted.
Refer to Dwgs. 440.400.110.030 and 440.400.110.040.
To calibrate the pump, proceed as follows:
a. Close the chamber valve of the calibration chamber and fi ll the chamber to
the top.
b. With the pump running, close the in-line valve upstream of the chamber
and, at the same time, open the chamber valve.
c. Using a stopwatch, note the length of time required to drop the calibration
chamber contents from the uppermost graduated line to a suitable graduated
line lower on the chamber. Open the in-line valve and close the chamber
valve to prevent air from being sucked into the suction line and interrupting
the pumping cycle.
d. Divide the quantity withdrawn from the chamber in cc by the elapsed time
in minutes to obtain the pump rate in cc/minute.
(cc / minute) x 0.38 = gallons per day (gpd)
or
(cc / minute) x 1.44 = liters per day
