Maintenance
8. Check condition and operation of all actuators by
completing the following:
a. Remove all actuators from the cylinders; these will
remain uninstalled until the final step of this section.
b. For manual actuators, check the condition of each
actuator to make certain they operate freely. When
finished, reset the manual actuators and seal with
inspection seals as required.
Do not
install on
cylinder valves.
c. For HF electric actuators, ensure that all wires are
properly connected. Electrically fire the HF actuator.
In order to properly test the electric detection and
actuation system, attach the booster actuator to the
HF actuator and energize the release circuit.
When HF Electric Actuator/Booster Actuator is
actuated correctly, the piston in the bottom of the
actuators will be locked in the down position. Reset
the HF actuator and Booster actuator following the
instructions listed in "Resetting the HF Actuator" and
“Resetting the Booster Actuator” in the Resetting
and Recharge section of this manual. Do not install
on cylinder valves.
9. Check AQUASONIC supply water tank by completing
the following steps:
a. Remove inspection seal from red nitrogen line shut-
off valve in the water tank pressurization piping and
black water line shut-off valve. Rotate valves to the
closed position.
b. Disconnect union at top of water tank.
c. Inspect threads in union nut and on union coupling
for nicks, burrs, cross-threading, and rough or feath-
ered edges. Clean union if necessary. Check union
for foreign objects.
d. Make certain tank is filled to the bottom of the collar.
Replace union securely.
e. Re-open the red nitrogen line shut-off valve in the
water tank pressurization piping and the black water
line shut-off valve on water supply and seal with
visual inspection seals.
10. Check all pressure switches for signs of damage or
corrosion. Ensure piping to pressure switch is properly
attached.
11. Check all switches on the system to ensure they will
operate properly. These may include maintenance
switches, abort switches, main/reserve switches, etc.
When completed, make certain they are all set in the
correct position.
Note:
Before proceeding with Step No. 12, make
certain all electrical actuators have been removed from
all cylinder valves and that the cartridge has been
removed from the ANSUL AUTOMAN II-C releasing
device(s) if part of the system.
12. Check condition of control panel for tampering, corro-
sion, or damage. Test panel by referring to the appropri-
ate AUTOPULSE Control System Manual.
13. Check all detectors. Make certain they are in place,
clean, and not damaged. If required, check the sensitiv-
ity of each detector according to the instructions of the
detector manufacturer. See the appropr iate
AUTOPULSE Control System Manual for detailed oper-
ating instructions of the panel.
14. Check all pull stations. Make certain they are in place
and that they are not blocked or damaged. Operate
each pull station to make certain that they operate the
control panel. Reset each pull station and seal with
visual inspection seal.
15. While checking the detectors and electric pull stations,
inspect each alarm device. Check the condition of the
alarm and verify that it operates properly when ener-
gized. Reset the alarm circuit after each test.
16. If the system includes an ANSUL AUTOMAN II-C
releasing device, test it according to the instructions
titled “Thermal Detection/Electric ANSUL AUTOMAN II-
C Release” listed in this section.
17. If applicable, visually inspect the pneumatic selector
valve(s) to ensure that the visual indicator is in the
down position.
18.
When Provided:
If remote actuator HAS NOT been
used, check cartridge by completing the following
steps:
a. Pull ring pin and remove cartridge guard.
b. Remove cartridge and weigh it.
c. Replace cartridge if weight is 1/4 ounce (7.1 g), or
more, below weight stamped on models LT-10-R.
Replace cartridge if weight is 1/2 ounce (14.2 g), or
more, below weight stamped on models LT-30-R.
NOTICE
If cartridge requires replacement, order
the appropriate Shipping Part Number
as found in the Components Section of
this manual.
