Matrix testing
For debugging and testing purposes single lamps, fixtures and complete DMX/e:pix
universes may be highlighted in a user selectable colour.
• Select VMCs that will be included in the test by setting the checkbox in front of
the devices. Selected VMCs will go into online mode and output the test pat-
terns.
• Select testing method within Patchelor
Test
tab. Users may select single
lamps, fixtures or complete DMX/e:pix universes.
• Select desired colour from test menu.
• Select single lamps, fixtures or complete DMX/e:pix universes in Patchelor’s
video area.
• Combinations of test methods may be applied to the matrix by repeating steps
2-4.
• Test pattern may be cleared anytime by clicking the
Clear
button in the test
menu.
For a real test of the VMC configuration connect a monitor to the (last) VMC, where
the enabled grid will be displayed. This way you can check that the right parts of the
video area are grabbed.
When overlapping fixtures are used with multiple daisy-chained VMCs, make sure
that this testing grid is switched off.
Refresh rate and configuration size
The absolute maximum refresh rate for a full DMX universe is ca. 44 Hz. When using
50 Hz or 60 Hz video input it is not possible for technical reasons to grab every
picture, as DMX is not fast enough. Use a refresh rate for the VMC of 2 or 3, to grab
only every second or third picture frame.
