The section size is not relevant for the VMC, the video area is the most important
configuration detail. This now is the relevant information for the VMC, which tells it
which pixel to grab at which position.
Select a single fixture, use the right mouse button for the context menu and select
Use Half Pitch as Grid
to define a useful grid for placing fixtures. Remem-
ber to enable the grid in the top menu.

Patching
Following steps are required to create a patch file and deploy it to all VMC units:
Please note that the VMC units do not have to be connected to your computer
while creating the patch file, but units must be connected for configuration and
patch upload.
• Select desired fixtures from library and place them inside video area.
• Select fixtures in video area and assign DMX or e:pix protocol to them
• Change fixture DMX/e:pix addressing and cabling according to your system
setup. Please refer to the e:cue System Manual for details on Patchelor.
• Assign mapped DMX/e:pix universes to VMC outputs by highlighting each VMC
in the device manager and defining universe numbers to this VMC outputs in the
properties dialog. Repeat for all other VMCs in the installation.
• Once the patch file has been created it needs to be uploaded to all VMCs.
Therefore select VMC Mapping in the Deploy menu. The patch file is automati-
cally uploaded to all VMCs that are available in the network and do have at least
one output mapped to a DMX/e:pix universe.

With VMC firmware v2 the last line of the DVI is used for system
synchronization and therefore cannot be used for patching. VMCs with
firmware level v1.* use the first line for this purpose.
