6.5 Measuring the distance to the display or cali-
bration grid (B)
Measure the distance from the measuring point on the Tobii X1 Light Eye Tracker to
the front of the active display on the monitor, projection screen, or TV screen, or in a
scene camera setup to the virtual screen. If the measuring point on the eye tracker
is located behind the active display, enter a negative distance (use “-” in front of the
value).
Always make sure that the distance to the active display is long enough for the eye
tracker to track the entire area. Please read chapter 3.4 Positioning and 6.2 Appendix
2: Recommended display sizes
for more information.
6.6 Measuring the vertical angle of the eye tracker
(A)
Calibrate the digital angle gauge supplied with the Tobii X1 Light Eye Tracker before
measuring the angle between the eye tracker and the vertical plane. To calibrate the
digital angle gauge, place it on a flat, vertical surface and press the “Zero” button.
To measure the angle, place the digital angle gauge on front surface of the eye
tracker. In many setups the angle is commonly around 25 degrees.
6.7 Measuring the vertical angle of the display or
calibration grid (C)
Measure the angle between the vertical plane and the active display. In a scene
camera setup measure the angle between the vertical plane and the calibration grid
used.
If the display is tilted forward you should enter a negative angle (use “-” in front of
the value). If the active display is completely vertical the angle value is 0. In a scene
camera setup where you want to track objects on a horizontal table the angle would
be 90 degrees.
6.8 Measuring the height distance between the
display and eye tracker (E)
Measure the height difference between the measuring point on the eye tracker
and the bottom of the active display area. Always use the visible active display as
described in the chapter 6.3 Measuring the Active Display Area (D) on page 38.
