4.5 Mounting the Tobii X1 Light using an adhesive
mounting bracket
The adhesive mounting bracket is designed to be permanently attached to the
monitor using adhesive or double sided tape. It contains magnets, but these are only
to be used as an aid when positioning the bracket and to keep it in place while the
adhesive cures. If the bracket is not properly fastened, the eye tracker can fall off the
monitor and break.
The double sided tape supplied with the adhesive mounting bracket is designed to
permanently attach the bracket to the monitor. Attempting to remove the bracket after
attaching it using the supplied tape can result in damages both to the monitor and the
bracket.
It is possible to use the adhesive mounting bracket in scene camera setups. However,
it is not advisable to use the supplied adhesive tape in those cases. Instead, some
kind of adhesive that can ensure the mounting bracket is securely fastened to the
surface during the study but then can be removed should be used.
Before starting the assembly, ensure that all necessary parts are available, i.e. the
adhesive mounting bracket and, if necessary, additional adhesive/double sided
tape.
4.5.1 The mounting process
Run the installation program that can be found on the CD. After shutting down the
computer, connect the USB cable between the eye tracker and the computer and
the power cable between the eye tracker and the power socket. Do NOT mount the
bracket before the appropriate step for doing so in the Tobii X1 Light Eye Tracker
Configuration Guide.
When your computer reboots the first time after the installation program has been
run, the Tobii X1 Light Eye Tracker Configuration Guide will open automatically. The
configuration guide can after that be accessed within the Tobii/Tobii X1 Light Eye
Tracker folder in the Start menu. Follow the instructions in the configuration guide to
configure the eye tracker.
Start the computer and follow the instructions in the configuration guide. When
selecting which setup to use, select the Adhesive Mounting Bracket option. Ensure
