MEC 320 GENSET CONTROLLER
PM079 Rev 0 07/06/08 12 Thomson Technology
AMF (with back Synchronization/Closed Transition)
Auto mode description
The unit automatically starts the gen-set and switches to generator supply at a mains failure
after an adjustable delay time. It is possible to adjust the unit to change to gen-set operation in
two different ways:
1. The mains breaker will be opened at gen-set start-up.
2. The mains breaker will remain closed until the gen-set is running and the gen-set
voltage and frequency is OK.
In both cases, the generator breaker will be closed, when the generator voltage and frequency is
OK, and the mains breaker is open.
When the mains returns, the unit will synchronize the mains breaker to the generator, when the
‘mains OK delay’ has expired. Then the gen-set cools down and stops.
Semi-auto description
When the generator breaker is closed and the mains breaker is opened, the unit will use the
nominal frequency as the set point for the speed governor.
When the generator is paralleled to the mains, the governor regulation will not be active.
Test mode description
Manual mode description
Block mode description
The automatic mains failure mode can be combined with the short time parallel
function. In that case, the generator breaker and the mains breaker will never be
closed at the same time for a longer period than the adjusted ‘short time parallel’
time.
