For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
Only turn on the EGC power when the system pressure reaches above 2600 psi. This step is
very important to ensure best system performance.
In a properly working system, the electrochemical detection (ED) background for the
Dionex CarboPac PA200 QAR and most applications is typically 25-45nC.
2.6.1
ICS-6000 Dual EG Start-Up Procedure for CarboPac PA200, 1 mm Column
A.
Fill a 2 L eluent reservoir bottle with ASTM filtered, Type I (18-megohm) degassed
deionized water. Connect the reservoir to the eluent inlet line of the pump.
Keep the
water blanketed under an inert gas (helium or nitrogen).
B.
Prime the pump as instructed by the system operation manual.
C.
Remove the vent plug on the top of the Dionex EGC 400 MSA cartridge (please refer to
Dionex Eluent Generator Cartridges Manual Document No. 065081 for details about
preparation of the Dionex EGC cartridges).
D.
Connect the pump outlet to the INLET port of the Dionex EGC 400 MSA cartridge and
direct the OUTLET port of the cartridge to waste.
E.
Turn on the pump and pump DI water through the Dionex EGC 400 MSA cartridge for
15 minutes at the flow rate of 1 mL/min (prime mode).
F.
Connect the OUTLET port of the Dionex EGC 400 MSA cartridge to a PEEK
backpressure tubing (Item # 22181-20031). Direct the backpressure tubing to waste.
G.
Set the pump flow rate to 0.1 mL/min.
H.
On the E-Panel, under Eluent Generator Tab, set the Eluent Polarity to Acidic Eluents.
Set MSA
prog
to 100 mM. Turn on the Dionex EGC power.
I.
Condition the Dionex EGC 400 MSA cartridge for 30 min.
J.
Turn off the pump.
K.
Remove the PEEK backpressure tubing from the OUTLET port of the Dionex EGC 400
MSA cartridge.
L.
Connect the OUTLET port of the Dionex EGC 400 MSA cartridge to the ELUENT IN
port of the Dionex RFIC EGC 400 MSA degasser (Item # 22181-60210), and direct the
ELUENT OUT port to waste.
M.
Set the pump flow rate to 1 mL/min and turn the pump on for 10 min.
N.
Remove the vent plug on the top of the Dionex EGC 400 KOH cartridge.
O.
Connect the ELUENT OUT port of the Dionex RFIC EGC 400 MSA degasser (Item #
22181-60210) and the INLET port of the Dionex EGC 400 KOH cartridge. Direct the
OUTLET port of the cartridge to waste.
P.
Turn on the pump and pump DI water through the Dionex EGC 400 KOH cartridge for
15 minutes at the flow rate of 1 mL/min.
Q.
Connect the OUTLET port of the Dionex EGC 400 KOH cartridge to a PEEK
backpressure tubing (Item # 22181-20031). Direct the backpressure tubing to waste.
R.
Set the pump flow rate to 0.1 mL/min.
