4.2.9 Control Panel Removal and Replacement
The following procedures for removal and replacement of the control
panel are provided primarily in the event the control panel is damaged
and needs replacing. Most components can be accessed and
serviced without the need to remove the front panel.
NOTE:
When removing and replacing the control panel, you must first
disconnect all wire and harness connections, and remove all manifold
support brackets connected to the back side of the control panel.
1. Follow all safety precautions and steps in the
2. Remove all knobs from valve stems by slowly pulling knobs
straight out, away from control panel.
3. Remove all gas tubes and burner support rails (see
Assembly and Burner Support Rail Removal and Replacement
4. Before disconnecting the wire harness connectors, first make a
note of how they are connected to all components that are housed
at the back side of the control panel (solenoid valves, LED
indicators, microswitches, and potentiometers).
NOTE:
It is recommended to label and tag all wires and
harnesses prior to disconnecting them, so as to correctly identify
their connections/locations when re-assembling.
5. Remove all valves, components and respective wiring connectors:
as follows:
■ Standard valves (see
Microswitch Removal and Replacement,
■ Solenoid valves (see
page
■ XLO valves (see
XLO Valve Removal and Replacement,

■ Potentiometers (see
LED Indicator Removal and Replacement,
page
).
NOTE:
LED indicators can stay on control panel as long as
their connectors are detached.
6. At the location of the two knobs connected to the manifold support
brackets (see Figure 24), use a T-20 driver to remove and retain
the two screws from the bezels (see Figure 25) in order to detach
the manifold support brackets on the back side of the control
panel (see Figure 27).
NOTE:
You do not have to remove the manifold support bracket
on the chassis base near the regulator (see Figure 26) when
removing or replacing the control panel.
7. Perform the following steps 8 through 13 for each side (both right
and left) of the rangetop:
8. Remove the three T-20 screws and washers from the bottom of
