1.4.2.3 System Resource Alert

Available only through SuperDoctor III in the Windows OS environment or Super-
Doctor II in Linux (an

optional

third-party product), this feature is used to notify the

user of certain system events. For example, you can also configure Supero Doctor to
provide you with warnings when the system temperature, CPU temperature, voltages
and fan speeds go beyond a pre-defined range.

1.4.3

Power Supply Monitoring

The power supplies in the Themis RES servers support a feature allowing their status
to be queried directly through software. The power supplies are connected to an I

C

bus used for system monitoring. This bus can be reached through the Baseboard
Management Controller (BMC), (described in subsequent paragraphs), on the moth-
erboard. Sample Linux commands to do this are included below.

The address is 5A.

Temperature Measurement function:
The value can be obtained by reading CR14, 1LSB = 1 degree.

Voltage Monitor function:
The VIN value can be obtained by reading CR10, CR11, and CR12 which rep-
r3.3V, +5V and +12V bus inputs respectively, 1LSB = 0.008V.
