Reusable cable ties (Velcro) allow additional cables to be added to the bundle, or
unused cables to be removed from the bundle easily.
If there is excess optical fiber, not wound up inside a Wall Mounting Bracket, it can be
loosely coiled and placed behind the desk or another piece of furniture. The optical fiber
cable can perform poorly or be damaged if it is bent sharply or crushed. Therefore, a coil
of at least 6 inches in diameter is recommended. Use electrical tape or Velcro cable ties
to hold the coil together in several places. Nylon zip ties can be used if care is taken to
not crush the cable and to remove sharp points after cutting off excess cable tie length.
Warning:
Do not bend the fiber optic cable to a diameter smaller than 7.5cm/3
inches. Doing so may damage the fiber or prevent the signal from passing through
properly.
Verifying the Installation
Once the installation is complete, use the following procedure to verify the ONT status
and the typical LED status after ONT boot sequence completion:
NOTE:
During boot up sequence, the PON LED will flash red and may progress to
solid red for approximately 10 seconds before progressing to flashing green while
software downloading. Do not cycle power or change the ONT if flashing green.
Check with a systems administrator for software download status before proceeding.
•
Verify that the LED lights Green, indicating that local power level is good.
•
Verify that the PON LED lights Green, indicating that the ONT is operating
normally.
Services are provisioned and turned up remotely via the Panorama PON EMS. Services
may have been provisioned in advance, however, if they were not, it may been necessary
to contact the systems administrator to complete service activation.
