2.
Plug the DC output cable from the AC adapter into the UPS connector on the
ONT180C.
3.
Plug one end of the line cord into the AC adapter and the other end into a
nearby AC outlet.
Remote Bulk DC Power Supply
The process for connecting the DC power from a remote bulk DC power supply is a bit
more involved. Note that DC power may be delivered to the ONT via a separate DC
power cable or by power conductors in an optical/copper composite cable.
Have a (locally sourced) Phoenix-type pluggable terminal connector (5.08 mm pitch 2P)
handy. This procedure is for a connector with screws.
Do not plug the connector block into the ONT yet.
1.
At the bulk DC power supply, turn off or disconnect the DC power to the ONT
being installed. Note which wire (color/stripe/etc.) is positive.
2.
At the ONT use a DMM to ensure no voltage is on the wires of the remote bulk
DC cable.
3.
Strip about 3/16 inch of insulation from the ends of the DC wires and twist the
strands of each wire tightly.
4.
Install the Phoenix-type pluggable terminal connector on the end of the remote
bulk DC cable. Ensure that the screws are tightened properly. The polarity marked
on the ONT rear panel above the DC 54V power connector must be observed. If
the connector has reversed polarity, the ONT will not be damaged when powered
up, but it will not operate.
5.
At the bulk DC power supply, restore power to the DC cable.
