Connecting DC Power Feeds
The 8820 MSR DC model provides redundant (A and B) power feeds at -40 VDC to -60
VDC. The unit can operate on only one feed or both feeds, as long as the minimum power
requirements described in
Power Requirements, on page 2-10
are met.
To connect DC power to the 8820 MSR, face the rear of the 8820 MSR (
) and use
the following guidelines:
Step 1
Locate the rack or DC power breakers and verify that they are in the OFF (O)
position. If they are not in the OFF (O) position, set them to OFF (O) position.
Step 2
Attach a green safety ground cable to the 8820 MSR chassis GND stud
.

OTE
The safety ground wire should be a minimum 14 AWG UL listed stranded
wire. The wire requires a ring lug attached to the end which connects to
the 8820 MSR chassis. The ring lug connects to the 8 x 32 threaded stud
and is secured in place with a nut provided with the unit. The green and
yellow safety ground cable is not provided by Tellabs.
