Automatic calibration
Introduction
provides an automatic calibration process which represents a helpful
method of setting up the sub-woofer to suit your listening room.
At low frequencies, sound reflections from the room’s walls generate what are
known as room modes, which are perceived as an unpleasant booming sound.
The automatic calibration process attempts to reduce these room modes, and
generally produces a much more balanced bass reproduction. The process
also adjusts the lower limit frequency to a value which produces as linear a
frequency response as possible, without exaggerated effects.
Although this process is very sophisticated, it does not always produce
optimum results. We are currently developing PC software designed to make
subsequent improvements to the calibrated settings.
The following settings are not affected by the automatic calibration process,
and should be adjusted again manually afterwards:
Frequency; Slope; Shape; Phase; Volume; Delay; LF cut.
Presets
The sub-woofer features two different presets for personal and automatic set-
tings. To call up a preset, hold the
button pressed in, then use the
/
buttons to select the desired preset before confirming your
choice with a further long press on the
button. While the preset is
loading the display shows '
'.
Presets:
Auto
(
)
This preset stores the corrected frequency response as established by the
automatic calibration process. It also stores settings entered manually by
the user.
User
(
)
This preset exclusively stores the values set by the user. The automatic
calibration process does not affect any settings stored here. This preset
enables you to revert to your own personal settings at any time if the
automatic calibration process fails to give a satisfactory result.
Preset functions:
Start
(
)
Starts the automatic calibration function, and overwrites the frequency
response corrections stored as the
‘
’
preset. Settings entered
manually are retained.
Default
(
)
Selecting this point restores the factory default settings.
