Adjustment option
Phase
(
)
Here it is possible to rotate the phase of the output signal through
180°
relative
to the input signal
(0°)
.
It may be advantageous to invert the sub-
woofer’s phase depending on its
physical location. The setting is correct when the listener subjectively obtains
the optimum sound quality in the bass / mid-range area.
Adjustment option
Volume
(
)
This setting is used to adjust the volume of the sub-woofer to match the level of
your primary speakers.
Adjustment option
Delay
(
)
At this point you can set the timing compensation between the sub-woofer and
the listening point; the setting can be adjusted in increments of five
centimetres. You should enter the distance between your listening position and
the sub-woofer in centimetres.
If the sub-woofer is connected to a surround amplifier which sets the correct
timing compensation itself, this setting should be left at a value of 0.
Adjustment option
LF-Cut
(Low frequency cut)
(
)
The purpose of this setting is to provide marked damping of the frequency
components below the threshold of hearing (<
20 Hz
– 30 Hz; sub-sonic filter).
This reduces the mechanical load on the loudspeakers.
You can set this filter to any value in the range 10 Hz to 30 Hz. This function
can be switched off by holding the
button pressed in until
‘

appears
on the screen.
Adjustment option
LF-Ext
(Low frequency extension)
(
)
This option enables the user to set the sub-
woofer’s lower limit frequency in
such a way that sound reproduction is as linear as possible in your specific lis-
tening room.
For normal rooms we recommend a setting between 25 Hz and 35 Hz, as this
produces the most linear reproduction down as far as 20 Hz. Under certain cir-
cumstances a lower bottom limit frequency would lead to excessive response
in the very lowest bass range.
The general rule is this: the larger the room, the lower the sub-
woofer’s bottom
limit frequency can be set.
If you calibrate the sub-woofer using the automatic calibration function (see
next section), the optimum setting will be established automatically.
This setting affects the level of amplification of the sub-woofer, since it involves
the equalisation of the bass range. If you alter the lower limit frequency, this
means that you may need to make further adjustments to the sub-
woofer’s
level to match that of the main loudspeakers. The lower the bottom limit
frequency you set, the lower the maximum effective level overall.
