Name

Description

Charger jack

A 12-VDC, 1.2-A AC adapter or a 15-
VDC, 2.7-A vehicle adapter connects to
this jack and to an electrical outlet or a
vehicle’s cigarette lighter socket,
respectively, to recharge the PTC-1800’s
battery pack.

Battery pack
release button

Allows you to remove the PTC-1800’s
battery pack. (Refer to Chapter 12 for
instruction son replacing the battery
pack.)

Battery pack

The PTC-1800 is powered by a standard
or extended-life lithium-ion battery pack.

Caution! Never leave the PTC-1800
without the battery pack installed.
Removal of the pack for extended periods
will drain the bridge battery (even with
the unit suspended.)

Charger
contacts

Connect the PTC-1800 to an optional
Model 1822 charger. The power which
recharges the PTC-1800’s battery pack
via the Model 1822 passes through these
contacts.

Antenna

Sends and receives radio transmissions,
allowing the PTC-1800 to communicate
with other radio devices on the wireless
network.

Buzzer port

Provides audible alerts and beeps.

7

Infrared port

Allows the PTC-1800 to communicate via
pulses of light to and from other IrDA-
compliant devices, such as printers. It can
transmit data at up to 115.2 kbps. (See
Chapter 9 for details.)
