Starting and operating
ignition switch is in

operation indicator on the push-button
ignition switch illuminates in orange.

Battery drainage prevention func-
tion
When the power is left in
“
Acc
”
for
approximately 1 hour, the power will be
automatically switched to
“
OFF
”
to prevent
the battery from going dead. In AT
vehicles, this function is activated when
the selector lever is in the
“
P
”
position.
CAUTION
.
When the power is left in
“
ON
”
or
“
Acc
”
for a long time, it may
result in vehicle battery dis-
charge.

In AT vehicles, the power cannot
be switched to
“
OFF
”
when the
selector lever is in a position
other than
“
P
”
.
.
Do not spill drinks, etc. on the
push-button ignition switch. It
may cause a malfunction.

Do not touch the push-button
ignition switch with a hand soiled
with oil, etc. It may cause a
malfunction.

If the push-button ignition switch
does not operate smoothly, stop
the operation. And we recom-
m e n d t h a t y o u c o n t a c t a
SUBARU dealer immediately.

If the push-button ignition switch
light does not illuminate even
when the parking lights are
turned on, we recommend that
you have the vehicle inspected at
a SUBARU dealer.

If the vehicle was left under the
hot sun for a long time, the
surface of the push-button igni-
tion switch may get hot. Be care-
ful not to burn yourself.

After the battery was discharged
or replaced, it may require an
initialization of the steering lock
system to start the engine. In
such a case, initialize the steer-
ing lock.*
*Initialization of steering lock
Switch the power to
“
OFF
”
. Open
and close or close and open the
driver
’
s door, and wait for ap-
proximately 10 seconds. When
the steering is locked, the initi-
alization is completed.
NOTE

When operating the push-button
ignition switch, firmly press it all the
way.
