to retrieve it. Consider keeping an extra cap on board just in case one
drops overboard.
Flush the MSD several times to clean waste buildup out of the lines
and rinse the tank. If you plan to leave the boat for several days, flush-
ing fresh water through the MSD will clear waste from the lines. Waste
in the lines tends to dry out. These hardened wastes may affect future
operation because they make the inside diameter of the hose smaller.
The holding tank is vented to equalize pressure in the tank. The vent fit-
ting is located on the hull side. Be sure to keep the vent screen clean to
insure proper operation.
On models equipped for both dockside and macerator holding tank dis-
charge, a waste valve/Y-valve will direct the flow of waste as it is
pumped out of the holding tank. Your dealer can locate the valve for
you and provide further instruction on its operation.
Overboard Discharge (Coastal Models Only)
If regulations permit, the macerator can be used to pump waste over-
board from the holding tank. A circuit breaker switch at the DC panel
controls the power supply to the macerator. The macerator draws
waste from the holding tank, grinds it into small particles, and pumps
it out a thru hull discharge fitting below the water line. The thru hull fit-
ting is protected by a seacock which must be opened before using the
macerator. Be sure to close the seacock after the holding tank is empty.
IMPORTANT: Overboard discharge of untreated sewage within three
miles of land is prohibited by law. Check with local authorities for prop-
er discharge procedures in your area.
1. Open the thru hull discharge seacock.
2. Start the macerator. The MACERATOR switch is in the head com-
partment.
3. Allow the macerator to run until the holding tank is empty. Running
the macerator when the tank is empty will damage the pump.

Explosion Hazard! Waste in holding tank can form methane, an
explosive gas. Keep vent open and kept clear of obstructions. Keep
fire and flame away when maintaining sanitary system.
