• Under direct sunlight, do not allow clear vinyl to contact frame-
work. The framework gets hot enough to burn the vinyl. Use snap-
on framework insulators provided with your boat. Insulating tubes
are also available at marine supply stores.
• Lubricate zippers with paraffin and snaps with petroleum jelly.
• Avoid keeping your boat under trees.
A Comment from Seaswirl: Keep heat away from canvas. Do not
clean with hot water, dry it in an automatic dryer, or steam press.
SUNBRELLA
Most Seaswirl factory-supplied canvas is made using Sunbrella marine
fabric which is 100% solution-dyed fiber. Sunbrella fabric should be
cleaned regularly before dirt and roof particles can become embedded
in the fabric. Sunbrella can be cleaned with the canvas installed.
Simply brush off any loose dirt. Hose down and clean with a mild solu-
tion of natural soap in lukewarm water no warmer than 100°F (37°C).
Do not use detergents to clean Sunbrella!
For more stubborn cases, soak the fabric for about 20 minutes in a
solution of not more than 4 ounces (113 grams) non-chlorinated bleach
and 2 ounces (56.5 grams) natural soap per gallon (3.7 liters) of water
at approximately 100°F (37°C). Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap.
Note: Excessive soaking in bleach may deteriorate sewing threads.
This cleaning method may also remove part of water repellency. If
water repellency is important, ask your dealer to recommend a method
of restoring repellency.
When storing Sunbrella fabric, clean it, allow to air dry and store in a
dry well-ventilated area.
