16. Locate the 1/32” Balsa with the pre-cut sheeting. Match sheeting to corresponding turtle deck and hatch
locations. The sheeting of sections forward of the hatch must be accomplished in 4 parts – be mindful that the
sheeting on this section must share the center of F11. In addition, all sheeting will share the center spine...
keep this in mind when fitting the part. Finally, note that all pre-cut sheets are etched with an arrow; this arrow
indicates forward and center location for each sheet part. Align sheets to corresponding formers, tack glue
perpendicular to fuselage, then wrap to center (centering on the spine). If you must moisten the sheet to
facilitate forming we recommend that you hold the sheet in position with tape or small weights, allow to
completely dry, then glue the formed sheet – gluing a wet sheet (that shrinks when it dries) will result in an
unsightly sag between formers.
17. Locate the two 1/16” by 3/16” magnets. Allow the magnets to cling to each other and mark both outside
surfaces with an “X” using permanent marker. This “X” indicates the magnets polarity. Take note that the
magnets will only “stick” in one direction – reversing the poles on only one magnet causes them to push away
from each other. We recommend installing the magnets on either the left or right of fuselage in one of the pre
cut holes. After covering is complete, tape hinge the opposite side of the hatch on the inside and out. You
have marked your magnets right? Ok. Glue one magnet into position within the fuselage (with the “X” not
visible from the top) and the other in the corresponding location of the hatch (again, with the “X” not visible).
18. Motor mount. Decide upon which motor system you will run. GWS gearboxes and variants will make use of the
provided 10mm stick. Assemble this stick from the cut parts in the 1/8” lite ply sheet. AXI and Hacker B20L
motors will need our optional laser cut motor mount assembly. This mount may be obtained from your local
hobby supply or directly through Stevens AeroModel
. Assemble your preferred mount
and install to fuselage. Stick mounts are glued in place. The optional AXI mount is screwed to the firewall
using the hardware supplied with the mount. When running a Hacker or similar motor with in-line planetary
gear box you will need to remove material from F1 to allow the motor can to fit within the fuselage.
