Install Solarix to wall or onto table
using four screws M5x40

Caution!

 Install Solarix on

non-flammable surface -
heat sink may heat up to
80°C.

STARTING UP SOLARIX

Caution!

Read the section „Safety Regulations“ prior to commis-

sioning your Solarix.

INSTALLING THE SOLARIX

Caution!

Never install or operate the appliance in rooms where

highly flammable gas mixtures may develop or penetrate. Explosive
oxyhydrogen gas may develop near the battery. Ensure sufficient
ventilation of the battery room and preclude sparking!

The place of installation must meet the following requirements:
-

protection against unauthorized access

-

protection against atmospheric influence as well as direct sunlight
and additional exposure to heat from neighbouring appliances

-

protection against dirt or humidity

-

ensure a minimum clearance of 10 cm above and below vent slots

-

in case of wall installation: install Solarix such that terminals are at the
bottom

-

clearance between Solarix and battery: 30 cm - 125 cm

-

connect red cable (10 mm²)
to Solarix terminal „Battery
+“

-

connect black cable (10
mm²) to Solarix terminal
„Battery -“

3. Connecting the solar module

 (Solarix 400 RI / 550 RI / 900 RI only)

The appliance may be operated using one or more standard solar
modules. When connecting solar modules the following module
parameters must be observed. Furthermore the system must be
designed such that the maximum solar module current never exceeds
25 A.

Type

Solarix 400 / 550

Solarix 900

nominal module voltage

12 V

24 V

max. module open circuit voltage

25 V

50 V

Caution!

Connect but solar modules to terminals „Solar module

+ / solar module -“ (no power supplies, diesel- or wind-driven
generators). In case various solar modules are used, make sure
they are always connected in parallel with the Solarix 400 RI /
550RI (see figure 1). With the Solarix 900 RI it is also possible to
connect 2 modules with a nominal voltage of 12V in series (see
figure 2)

2. Connecting battery

To ensure you can use your Solarix at maximum efficiency, the
capacity of the battery used should be at least 200 Ah, otherwise
problems may occur when starting motors, pumps or refrigerators.

Caution!

Be sure cables are connected to correct terminal.

Connection to wrong terminal will destroy the internal fuses in any
case, however may also completely destroy the appliance!

-

connect red cable to
positive battery terminal

-

connect black cable to neg-
ative battery terminal

Note!

 A 120 A DC fuse must

be placed closely to the
battery.

PREPARING CABLING

The cabling has to comply with local conditions and regulations. Choose
cables to be used in view of future conditions of use (humidity, UV
radiation), assemble carefully and provide end splices.

The following minimum cross sections are required, supposing that there
is a distance of 1 m to the battery, of 10 m to the solar module distribution
box and of 5 m to the DC feeder box:
-

connecting cable between Solarix and battery: 10 mm²

-

connecting cable between Solarix and solar module distributor: 10
mm²,

-

connecting cable between Solarix and DC distributor: 6 mm²

Assemble the included cable for connection to AC output (connector with
2.5m cable) using coupling, multiple distributor. Connect yellow/green
ground wire according to regulations!

CONNECTING THE SOLARIX

Caution!

It is imperative that you follow the steps in the order as

mentioned below.

1. Installing battery cable

The maximum cable length must not exceed 125 cm! Make sure the
battery cables are single-core cables and are layed such that they are
parallel and close together. Cables may also be twisted.

Caution!

Use minimum cable cross-section of 10 mm²
