GENERAL
CONSTRUCTION
The Solarix 400 RI / 550 RI / 900 RI are two appliances combined in one:
-
a powerful stand-alone inverter with genuine sinusoidal voltage output
-
an intelligent state-of-the-art solar charge regulator indicating actual
state of charge
Note!
The series Solarix 400 I / 550 I / 900 I is not equipped with a solar
charge regulator.
The functional, elegant plastic housing, designed to ensure easy operation
and optimum protection of the appliance, is suitable both for wall and for
table installation. The long-standing quality of Fronius and Steca products
ensure high reliability and a long service life.
BASIC PRINCIPLE OF STAND-ALONE INVERTER
The stand-alone inverter supplies 230V / 50 Hz (standard models) or
115V / 60Hz (models Solarix 550 I / 550 RI-L60 and Solarix 900 RI-L60)
sinus-oidal alternation voltage, capable of operating all common
consumers requiring power up to 900 W (Solarix 900 I / 900 RI), 550W
(Solarix 550 I / 550 RI) or 400 W (Solarix 400I / 400 RI):
-
tools, such as drilling machines, piercing saws, orbital sanders
-
household appliances
-
entertainment electronics, such as TV sets, hi-fi equipment
-
energy saving-, incandescent and fluorescent lamps
-
refrigerators
-
pumps and motors
Note!
Note that the inrush current of some loads, such as refrigerators,
pumps and motors, may be several times higher at the moment of starting
than the value given on the type plate.
Therefore the stand-alone inverter may get switched off for safety reasons
in case the overload limits are exceeded.
Due to its genuine sinusoidal output, the stand-alone inverter ensures a
trouble-free and efficient operation even of sensitive appliances. To start
critical loads, the stand-alone inverter is in a position to temporarily
generate the triple of its rated power. Further the Solarix is equipped with
an intelligent fan control, ensuring an optimum ventilation of the
components.
BASIC PRINCIPLE OF SOLAR CHARGE REGULATOR
The integrated solar charge regulator monitors the state of charge of the
battery and controls the charging process as well as connection and
disconnection of the consumers. This ensures an optimum utilization of
the battery, thus considerably extending its service life.
State of charge
(SOC)
Thanks to a new algorithms the solar charge regulator can determine the
state of charge of the battery to an average exactitude of 10 %.
Overcharge protection
Frequent overloading will damage the battery. To ensure a careful battery
charge the charging process is regulated, thus reliably precluding
overcharge.
Temperature tracking of final charging voltage
The optimum final charging voltage of lead-acid-batteries decreases as
the battery temperature rises. Temperature tracking adjusts the final
charging voltage to the battery temperature.
Cycle Charge
(lead acid / gel battery)
When the SOC falls below 70 % the final charge is raised for 1 hour.
Equalization Charge
(lead acid battery only)
When the SOC falls below 40 % the equalization charge is activated.
During this process the final charge voltage is raised for approximately
one hour to a level so that the electrolyte is mixed. This prevents
stratification of the electrolyte and helps to prolong the service life of the
battery.
Total discharge protection
Total discharge results in a capacity loss of your battery. The total
discharge protection of the solar charge regulator disconnects the
consumers. As soon as the state of charge is up to 50 % again the
consumers are automatically reconnected.
FIELDS OF APPLICATION
The Solarix 400 I / 550 I / 900 I appliances are designed for use in camping
and leisure time. Some of its outstanding features are:
-
triple overload capacity
-
genuine sinusoidal voltage for a trouble-free operation even of sensitive
appliances (hi-fi equipment, TV sets, computers)
-
100% short circuit-proof
-
maximum efficiency: 92,5%
Along with above advantages the Solarix 400 RI / 550 RI / 900 RI
appliances, due to the combination of stand-alone inverter and solar
charge regulator, offer entirely new benefits for island equipment with
solar power supply:
-
extremely easy installation as only one pair of cables is to be connected
-
simultaneous operation of DC and AC loads
-
determination of actual state of charge using the well-established
AtonIC algorithm: the momentary battery capacity is determined very
precisely and is indicated
-
optimum utilization and care of battery
-
optimum adjustment of solar charge regulator and stand-alone inverter
PROTECTIVE FUNCTIONS
The Solarix is equipped with protecting functions as follows:
-
short-circuit protection at DC and AC outputs
-
overload protection in case oversized consumers are connected
-
overtemperature cutoff in case of thermal overload
-
low voltage protection
Following a cutoff due to above reasons the appliance is automatically
restarted as soon as conditions are safe again. Despite of these measures
it is in your own interest to properly operate the stand-alone inverter as
this will extend its service life.
Therefore make sure that the total power of the appliances connected
never exceeds the nominal power (see section Technical data). The
continuous nominal power of the appliance will decrease as the
temperature is above 30°C, especially when simultaneously high solar
module-, DC load- and AC load currents occur in the Solarix 400 RI / 550
RI / 900 RI.
