State of charge (SOC)

... indicates state of charge of battery in percentage.

A big bar is equivalent to 10 %, a small one to 5 % of state of charge (below
example corresponds to 75 % state of charge).

Note!

With the battery fully charged and the solar module current in short

circuit, no bar is shown even with full insolation and maximum solar
module current.

When there is no charging current (e.g. during the night), an inverted sun
symbol is shown.

Charging current

... indicates charging current drawn from battery. A big

bar is equivalent to 6 A, a small one to 3 A of solar module current (below
example corresponds to 45 A charging current).

Error messages

... in case of an abnormal occurrence the type of error

is displayed. For further information, see chapter „Troubleshooting and
remedies“.

Note!

To preclude total discharge of the battery, no more power is

supplied to the consumers as soon as state of charge falls below 30 %.
As soon as state of charge is above 50 %, power is supplied to the
consumers again.

Charging current

... indicates solar module current used to charge the

battery. A big bar is equivalent to 6 A, a small one to 3 A of solar module
current (below example corresponds to 21 A charging current).

The error messages are as follows:
-

load current ........................... overcurrent in consumer

-

module current ...................... overcurrent in solar module

-

overtemperature ................... overtemperature charge controller

-

overvoltage ............................ overvoltage in battery

-

low voltage ............................ low voltage in battery

OPERATING MODE KEY

The operating mode key serves to select the operating mode. Pushing the
key changes over to the next operating mode.
For further information regarding the operating modes, see section
„Operating the Solarix“

OPERATING THE SOLARIX

Three different operating modes are available for the Solarix which
ensures a trouble-free and reliable power supply to every type of appliances
on one hand and a careful utilisation and economic administration of the
battery power on the other hand.

STAND-BY MODE (LOAD RECOGNITION)

Stand-by mode is mainly used in such cases where consumers are
switched on only temporarily and no current is required in the meantime.
In this mode the Solarix periodically emits a test pulse to the output. As
soon as a consumer with a power consumption above 5-25 W (depending
on the type of consumer)  is connected to the output the Solarix changes
to continuous operation. Once the consumer is disconnected the  Solarix
changes back to stand-by mode. In stand-by mode the power consumption
is reduced to less than 60 mA.

To ensure perfect operation in stand-by mode, make sure the following
requirements are met:
-

battery with a minimum capacity of 200 Ah

-

copper cross section of battery cable 10 mm² at min.

-

length of battery cables of 125 cm at max.

Note!

Some electronic consumers (such as fluorescent tubes, certain

appliances with electronic control) may not be properly recognized in
stand-by mode as they have startup delay time. Change to continuous
mode.
The sensitivity of load detection depends on the age and type of the
battery and on the length and cross-section of the battery cables. The
Solarix inverter employs a newly developed method to adjust its operation
to these parameters. To achieve this, a calibration has to be performed
after installation (and, if necessary, in periodic intervals). For details see
chapter “Calibrating load detection”.

CONTINUOUS MODE

230 VAC are continuously present at the AC output. Power is reliably
supplied to all consumers connected.

SLEEP MODE

If no a.c. voltage is required for an extended period of time the Solarix
should be switched to sleep mode. In sleep mode the power consumption
is reduced to about 15 mA for the Solarix 400 I / 550 I / 900 I and to about
20 mA for the Solarix 400 RI / 550 RI / 900 RI. No voltage is present at the
AC output which ensures careful utilization of the battery power.

Note!

Use the sleep mode whenever possible. Please note that even the

relatively low power consumption in stand-by mode may discharge the
battery if applied for an extended period of time, which is largely precluded
in sleep mode.

The solar charge regulator of the Solarix 400 RI / 550 RI / 900 RI continues
to be fully operational, ensuring a recharge of the battery so that full
readiness for service of the accumulator is achieved as quickly as
possible.
