12.4. CROSSOVER WIRING SCHEME

The wiring scheme of a cable linking two network interface cards is different in that the green

and orange pairs have their places swapped at one end of the cable, one of the connectors being
586A, and the other 586B. This is called a

crossover

, or

null-hub

cable. The same scheme is

used for cascading (connecting) hubs.
