Operation Procedures
3. 1. SafEye Operation
Once the system is positioned it will monitor for possible specified gases automatically
sending signals to a standard control panel or a PC. This chapter describes the
alignment, calibration and operation.
Important!
Accurate Alignment is essential for proper
operation of the SafEye system.
3. 2. Alignment of Unit (Figures 3-1 through 3-2)
This section applies to open-path installation only. For duct mount applications the
alignment is performed according to section 2.4.5. Therefore, skip steps 1 through 10
when duct mount installation is performed.
Full alignment is performed by using the Telescope. Alignment procedure should be
performed in two stages: Crude alignment and fine adjustment.
The Telescope includes a Periscope that consists of a prism and an ocular located
vertically to the Telescope assembly. This allows the user to observe into the opposite
unit perpendicularly to the aligned when the access from the rare side of the unit is
impossible. At installation case which rear access is enabled the Periscope is not
necessary. In this case it can be removed by releasing of the Periscope Fastening
Screw (item 5 at figure 3-2).
Important Notes:
a.
Prior to Telescope Installation verify that the Telescope and Its
Sight Mounting are free from any dirt to ensure proper alignment
according to factory calibration.
b.
Do not Attempt to change any factory calibration at the Telescope
or its mounting. This may prevent optimal alignment.
1.
Make sure that the Detector and the Flash Source are installed properly.
Installation instructions are described in section 2 of this document.
2.
Refer to Figure 3-1. Slightly release four Protective Sight Covers’ screws
(Figure 3-1, item 6) from the Detector and the Flash Source. Do not remove
out the screws from the Covers. Remove the Protective Sight Covers (Figure 3-
1, item 7) from the Detector/Flash Source Assembly. Store the Cover in a clean
place for reinstallation after alignment completes.
3.
Refer to Figure 3-2. Install the Telescope Assembly (1) on the Telescope Sight
Mounting (2) of the Detector according to the drawing. Fasten the Telescope
with Fastening Screw (3).
