SPI Bus
The SPI bus allows the CPU to communicate with the LED drive
DAC, variable gain amplifier, transmit DAC, and the Red and IR
ADCs. The SPI bus is a bi-directional serial interface bus. The CPU
controls the bus timing and selects the devices to which to talk. The
Red and IR ADCs are set up and read over this bus. The other
devices on the bus are listen-only and do send data back to the CPU.
Transmit Data Timing
The data sent to the transmitter is synchronized by two timing
signals from the transmitter PCBA FR5 and FD2. FD2 indicates the
start of a data field and FR5 marks each nibble in the field.
Record Switch
The record switch, when depressed, pulls the record line high.
Field Service
The SpO
2
PCBA is designed to be field-replaceable. The PCBA is
attached to the top cover of the 90343 transmitter with five screws.
It connects to the transmitter PCBA via a single ribbon cable. A flex
cable is attached to the patient SpO
2
and ABP connectors. The
other end of the flex connects to the SpO
2
PCBA ZIF connector. No
alignment or calibration is necessary.
To remove the PCBA, refer to
Disassembling the 90343 Transmitter
Disassembling and Reassembling the 91343
on page 4-22. Component level repairs are not
recommended.
If the SpO
2
or NIBP connectors are damaged, the top case must be
replaced, since they are integral to the case. The SpO
2
or NIBP caps
may be replaced with kit P/N 050-0354-00.
Receiver Module
The 90478 receiver module is a dual-conversion, dual-mode,
diversity receiver with an ECG CPU PCBA installed. It can be
installed in UCW, PC Scout, PC Express, Ultraview 1030, 1050, 1500,
1600, and 1700 monitors. In addition, the 90478 receiver module can
be installed in the Ultraview SL2400, SL2700, SL2800, and SL3800
monitors.
