Power supply module installation

Carefully slide the replacement module into the
chassis until it clicks into place.

Put the retaining bar back in position and secure with
the #6-32x6 mm hexagonal fixing screw.

Attach the power cord to the replacement module and
connect to the power source.

Checks after replacement

After replacement, allow several seconds for the unit to
recognize the module and determine whether it is working
properly. Confirm that the rear panel green PSU LED is lit,
indicating that the module is working and supplying
power.

System cooling fan replacement

System fan removal

Remove rear lid (see

“Rear lid removal” on page 83

Identify the defective fan and pull it upward.

disconnect the 3-pin fan connector (4-pin for PWM
fan) attached to the fan edge board.

Remove the assembly from the unit and place it on the
workbench.

Fan edge board removal

Unscrew the two Flat Head, #6-32x8 mm screws
securing the fan edge board assembly to the fan.

Remove the board and set it aside for connection to the
replacement fan.

Fan edge board installation

Attach the fan edge board assembly to the new fan
using the two Flat Head, #6-32x8 mm screws,
previously removed,

Plug in the fan connector to the fan edge board.

System fan installation

Ensure the system fan is correctly orientated so that
airflow will be directed rearward.

Install the fan assembly by sliding it into position into
the unit, ensuring it mates correctly with the connector
beneath.

Checks after replacement

After installing a new fan, it may take several seconds for
the system to recognize the fan and determine whether it is
working properly.

The fan failure indicator and alarm will turn off
automatically to signify that the fan is functioning
correctly (see

“Front panel controls and indicators” on

page 19

for details).

Visually check that the fan is revolving in the correct
direction, before replacing the rear lid (see

“Rear lid

replacement” on page 83
