NIC card replacement
NIC card removal

Power off the unit (see
) and remove the rear lid (see
) to access the part.

Remove the Pan Head Screw, #6-32x4 mm retaining
screw which secures the card metal mounting panel to
the chassis.
The figure above shows the removal of a typical PCI
card and may not show the correct position. See
for the correct position of
the RAID controller card.

Withdraw the card upwards out of the chassis.
NIC card installation

Remove the replacement card from its packaging and
prepare for installation. Refer to your card manual for
details.

Position the card so that the card-edge connector from
the system board aligns with the card connector.

Insert the card edge connector firmly into the
expansion card connector until the card is fully seated.

Replace and secure the expansion-card with the Pan
Head Screw, #6-32x4 mm screw previously removed.

Replace the rear lid (see
) and power on the server (see
Checks after replacement
After replacement, check that the Gigabit Ethernet
connection is functioning as required by performing a ping
command (see
“How to ‘ping’ a computer” on page 45
and that the connector integral LEDs indicate a healthy
connection can be established (see
).
Memory module replacement
Memory modules (DIMMs) contain devices which are
extremely sensitive to static electricity. Note the following
precautions:
If there is a faulty memory module then both of the pair
must be replaced to make sure that revisions are correct.
The pairs are A and C or E and G (see
).
• Do not remove a module from its packaging until you
are ready to install it.
• Always wear a grounding strap when handling
modules.
• Handle modules only by their edges taking care not to
touch the edge connector contacts.
Memory module removal

Power off the unit (see
) and remove the rear lid (see
) to access the parts.

Locate the memory module(s) to be removed.

Push the ejection levers at either end of the module
away from the memory module and eject it from the
socket.
