3ware RAID BIOS manager
Introduction
The 3ware RAID BIOS manager may be used for
configuring the 3ware RAID Controller Card.
• The functions performed by the 3ware RAID BIOS
manager may also be performed by the using the
Management > Maintenance option on the 3ware disk
manager utility (see “3ware disk manager” on page 55 ).
• The background task rate and verify rate should not be
changed from default. The carve size is not required as
the Auto Carve should be disabled.
Accessing the utility
The BIOS manager is pre-installed on the RAID Controller
Card. It may be invoked by simply pressing the
ALT-3
when prompted to do so at the normal boot-up screen.
Checking RAID controller BIOS
settings
The RAID Controller Card BIOS settings determine the
configuration of the Media RAID and should be checked
when the card is replaced in the server.
Confirmation of the boot drive
Use the 3ware RAID BIOS manager to check the presence
of the OS RAID drives and the boot order.
Typically the DVD disk drive is listed first in the boot
order (the
IDE drive ).
Second, the 3ware Storage Controller is listed next. A
submenu for the controller will list the hard drives to be
used. The drives are designated by their model numbers:
• SATA 0: ST980825AS
• SATA 1: ST980825AS
Setting up the RAID arrays
Take care to set up the RAID correctly and not to
delete units, as this will result in loss of data.

Enter the 3ware RAID BIOS setup by pressing ALT-
3 when prompted to do so by the boot-up screen.

The following warning screen may appear when you
first enter the 3ware RAID setup. Press any key to
continue.

Check all the data HDDs are seen.

Open Settings and Controller Policies.

Disable Auto Rebuild in the controller settings and
press
OK .
