RAID configuration settings
are incorrect or wrongly
adjusted. Check ‘DRIVE information’ using the 3ware disk manager utility.
Reconfigure HDD, if necessary.
HDD fault. Replace the faulty HDD (see “Media RAID HDD replacement” on page
84 ).
If the fault persists, normal operation of the unit will have to be interrupted to enable further checks to be done.
RAID Controller Board fault. Confirm symptom by powering off the unit and then powering the unit
checking HDD status using the 3ware BIOS manager utility (see
“Checking RAID controller BIOS settings” on page 57 ).
If RAID setting up problems are present, replace RAID Controller Card
(see
“RAID controller card replacement” on page 89 ).

connector contact Check the relevant Backplane Board connections (see “S-ATA
backplane board (PN16-0107)” on page 33 ).
Check HDD status.
HDD fault. Replace the faulty HDD (see “Media RAID HDD replacement” on page
84 ).
Check HDD status.
If the fault persists, normal operation of the unit will have to be interrupted to enable further checks to be done.
S-ATA cable fault. Swap S-ATA cables to check whether fault remains.
Check HDD status.
If fault symptom remains with the cable, replace S-ATA cable.
Backplane board fault. Swap over HDDs by inserting HDD in another slot position.
Check HDD status.
If the fault symptom remains in the same slot position, replace
Backplane Board (see
“S-ATA backplane replacement” on page 94 ).
RAID Controller Board fault. If fault persists, confirm symptom by powering off the unit and then
powering the unit checking HDD status using the 3ware BIOS
manager utility (see
“Checking RAID controller BIOS settings” on
page 57 ).
If RAID setting up problems are present, replace RAID Controller Card
(see
“RAID controller card replacement” on page 89 ).
