8 Maintenance
In this section…
This section contains the following sub-sections:
8.1 “Introduction” beginning on page 38.
8.2 “Routine Maintenance” beginning on page 38.
8.1 Introduction
Radian is a sealed depth-rated product that contains no user-serviceable parts.
You must not open the housing for any reason.
If you believe Radian has developed a fault, return it to Sonardyne for reapir, with
covering documentation.
Always use proper packaging to transport the unit. Refer to section 2.6 “Contact
Details” beginning on page 7 for the return address and contact details for Sonar-
dyne.
This section of the manual includes basic routine tasks that you should perform to
maintain Radian in a good condition.
8.2 Routine Maintenance
Immediately after you recover Radian from the sea, wash it using fresh water
to remove any contamination or debris.
Examine Radian’s housing for signs of damage or degradation.
Check the cable and connector for damage, and make sure the cable remains
secured so that it cannot snag other equipment or structures.
If you disconnect the cable from Radian, always fit the blanking plug to the
connector to protect it from damage or contamination. Re-lubricate the con-
nector before you assemble it again for the next deployment.
Check that the mounting screws or bolts are tight and that Radian is secure.
