Fig 16 Advanced Settings dialog
This dialog has two main regions:
Device Settings
—This region allows you to set the filter, sampling and
communication parameters used by the earth magnetic field sensors:
Scenario
should always be set to
8.4 Marine
.
Magnetic Variation
is the setting that applies compensation for any
static magnetic fields arising from ferromagnetic objects attached to or
located near Radian. The setting you establish here is displayed on the
Radian Tool
dialog.
The
Baud Rate
setting is the ‘new’ setting for the sensor port, and is the
setting that you want it to become following a reset. If you request a new
baud rate, the sensor is reset to the new rate. The baud rate setting on
your PC will then be updated automatically. Be very careful not to
change the baud rate to a value that is unusable, for example by setting it
too high for the PC or cable in use.
Update Rate
is the rate at which Radian updates and transmits measure-
ments. The default settings is 10Hz and you should avoid using higher
rates than this if possible. The Radian Attitude Display (described on
page 26), and the 3D Attitude Display (described on page 26) work most
efficiently when using a 10Hz update rate.
