5.5. Fuel System

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

The fuel system is based on a fuel feed pump and an in-line mechanical injection pump.

FUEL SPECIFICATIONS

Use ASTM diesel fuel No.2-D for the best genset performance, to prevent genset damage.

Never use kerosene, heavy diesel fuel or biodiesel. It is essential to use clean and filtered diesel oil.

The use of diesel oil that not complies with the technical specifications may affect warranty

coverage and cause serious damage in the injection system and internal genset components.

MAINTENANCE TASK. FUEL LEVEL INSPECTION

Periodically, it is necessary to check the fuel level to assure the operation of the genset.

On top of that, if fuel pump sucks air when the fuel level is lower than pump suction, it could break.

Whenever possible, keep the fuel tank full. The temperature changes may cause

condensation of the damp air present in the tank and this water accumulates at the bottom. It
can cause an increase of corrosion or an impossibility of starting the genset if this water is aspired
by the fuel pump.

MAINTENANCE TASK. FUEL TANK CLEAN

The fuel impurities could obstruct the suction pump. For this reason, drain out the content

of the fuel tank to remove condensate and any foreign material. Then, wash the tank with fuel and
refill it.
