4.
Remove the old batteries and properly dispose of them.
5.
Load a complete new set of approved AA batteries ensuring that the orientation of
each battery matches the corresponding markings molded into the inside of the
battery cover (Figure 28). The terminal automatically powers on upon battery
installation. Refer to [T204] for a description of LED flash rates.
CAUTION
Do not mix battery types or new and used batteries. Ensure
batteries are inserted with the correct orientation. The label
inside the battery compartment indicates if the terminal uses
rechargeable (NiMH) or non-rechargeable (Li/FeS
2
) batteries
(Figure 12, Figure 13, Figure 10, and Figure 11).
CAUTION
Ensure that the black gasket on the terminal remains fixed in
place on the gasket wall along the entire perimeter of the battery
compartment.
6.
Replace the gasket (SkyWave part number: ST100188). Refer to APPENDIX E for
gasket replacement instructions.
7.
Position the loaded battery cover onto the terminal, with the curved end of the cover
facing the end of the terminal.
8.
Apply firm hand pressure around the outside of the battery cover before tightening
the screws.
9.
Using a torque screwdriver with a #2 Phillips drive, tighten the four screws on the
battery cover to
0.7 N-m (6 in-lb)
.
CAUTION
Do not exceed this torque spec as it
voids the warranty and may damage
the terminal.
Note:
The battery cover should lay flat on the terminal base when properly
assembled.
