Filtering & zooming
Security system projects can contain thousands of objects. In such situations, it is
essential that you can
filter the objects according to some filtering criteria.
Composer provides standard filtering criteria (with basic functionality) based on a
list of standardised disciplines (such as
Fire), and/or object types (such as Room).
Composer also allows you to create custom filters (with advanced functionality).
This means filters whose criteria are managed by the Plug-ins. Filtering provides
basic and advanced functionality.
Once you activate a filter, it is saved along with the other data in the project. This
allows you to retrieve it quickly, even in subsequent work sessions.
Composer also provides a
zoom function, which creates a new tab in the Tree
View containing the selected node and its children nodes.
The only difference between Zoom and Filters is that zoom applies to the selected
node, while filters apply to the entire project.
7.5.1
Creating filtered views
1. To create a filtered view of a project in a tab of the
Tree View, do one of the
following:
- Select Format > Filter > New from the menu
- Right-click a node in the tree, then select Filter > New from the menu, then
name the filter.
The Filter Properties window displays. There are two tabs, where you can
select/deselect the disciplines/sub-disciplines and/or the object types/sub-
types of the nodes that you want to be contained in the filtered view that
you want to create. In the case of an MM8000 configuration, you are also
allowed to filter for logical, physical, and geographical trees.
When not all sub-disciplines/object sub-types are selected,
disciplines/object types are partially selected and their check box appears
selected and dimmed .
The Set Filter Rules item allows you to edit disciplines and object type (one
for each tab). If it is not checked the related tab is disabled.
