4. In the DMS8000 Installation window, click on Install DMS8000 Station.
The InstallShield Wizard appears.
5. Continue to click Next, making the appropriate selections in the wizard.
6. In the Setup Types window, select a setup type.
For details on the Composer GW Tool option, see section Limited Composer –
Composer GW Tool (no license required) [➙ 33].
Note: If you select the Stand-alone MM8000 Web Site option and you are
running Windows 7 or 2008, the Web Site is created automatically (including
Windows IIS). If you are running Windows XP or 2003, you need to create the
Web Site manually. See the
MM8000 ICC (Doc. # A6V10062413) to find the
appropriate procedure for how to do this.
7. Follow the instructions for setting up Composer security as detailed in section
Managing Composer security [➙ 23].
8. Attach and activate the hardware key. (For details, see section Managing
Note: This step is not necessary if you selected the Composer GW Tool setup
type.
For details on starting Composer, see section Launching Composer [➙ 40].
After you install Composer, you may want to do one or more of the following:
- Configure user privileges – see section Composer User Manager [➙ 25].
- Install plug-ins – see section Installing the Plug-ins [➙ 37].

Installing Windows IIS
You need Windows Internet Information Services (IIS) but it is not installed.
1. Select Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows
Components.
Note: If you are installing IIS for the MM8000 Web Site and are running
Windows XP or 2003, you also need to set the ASP.NET version. See the
MM8000 ICC (Doc. # A6V10062413) to learn how to do this.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install, remove, or add components to IIS.

Managing Composer security
The Composer tool includes security checks to ensure that only authorised users
can start and operate Composer software.
During the software setup process, you need to check the Advanced Security
Settings option in order to be able to configure Composer security.
