Special feature of the Extension Unit Advanced
The slot number is determined exclusively by the order in which the installation component is
connected via the internal bus:
●
The slot number is independent of the slot: With sequential slot numbers, there may be
gaps in between the slots.
●
The slot number is independent of the mounting position: With sequential slot numbers,
the mounting position can be swapped either left or right. You need different cable
lengths, see section "Cable lengths for the Extension Unit Advanced (Page 36)".
●
The slot number is independent of the Extension Unit: With sequential slot numbers, an
installation component can be located in a second Extension Unit Advanced.
The following applies to Extension Units Advanced:
●
Slots can be moved to a second Extension Unit as required.
●
A maximum of 32 installation components can be configured.
Note
Slot 14 in delivery state
In the delivery state of the minimum configuration (1 × KP12) ex works, the connecting cable
from the communication module is connected to the KP12. The KP12 is therefore the first
operator control and receives slot number 14 by default, as in the example. However, you
can also change this wiring individually.
Assignment example for an Extension Unit Advanced
Front
The custom assembly shown contains a KP12 and 3 RGB illuminated pushbuttons: A traffic
light green, yellow, red, which is equipped in reverse order to illustrate the principle.
●
There are gaps in between the slots (slot numbers 15-16).
●
The slot numbers 16 and 17 are not on the right; instead they are to the left of slot
number 15.
The slot number is determined exclusively by the wiring with which the connecting cables are
plugged (see rear panel).
