3.4 Diagnostics
Diagnostics
Once you have selected a software package, you can use the
"Edit/Diagnostics" menu item of SINEC setup to call the diagnostic
program and check the hardware and software installation.
The diagnostics program can also be used before you configure a CP
to find out which I/O ranges, interrupts and address areas are
available.
Diagnostic
Functions
The diagnostic program is divided into three function groups:
•
Checking the hardware installation
•
Checking the software installation
•
Checking the basic communications functions of the CP 5412 (A2)
Checking the
Hardware
Configuration
The hardware configuration check provides you with the possible base
port addresses for a CP 5412 (A2) and finds out the addresses on your
computer at which a CP 5412 (A2) has been installed.
You also obtain information about interrupts and address areas
available and already occupied.
Checking the
Software
Configuration
The software configuration check investigates whether all the required
software components exist.
You also obtain information about the releases of the individual parts
of the software package.
Checking the Basic
Functions of the
CP 5412 (A2)
Checking the basic functions of the CP 5412 (A2) is only possible when
a driver is loaded.
With this function you can do the following:
•
Read out the current bus parameters of the CP 5412 (A2) and
compare them with your configuration.
•
Display a status overview of all stations on the network.
