The capacity of the battery is automatically monitored by the digitalboard of the
controller. When the battery voltage drops below the required level, a warning is
generated in due time and it is recorded in the event memory of the controller.
The controller is also functional without a battery. The battery buffers the NV-RAM
of the controller.
The status of the controller and the status of the fibre(s) are solely stored in the
NV-RAM.
With a drained or missing battery, the set values for the system date and the
system time of the controller together with the status of the controller and the
status of the fibre(s) are volatile and get lost when the controller is switched off.
Note: The configuration of the controller and the configuration of the fibre(s) are not
only stored in the controller’s NV-RAM, but also on the CF memory card. They are
only lost in the case of the simultaneous replacement of the battery and the CF
memory card.
The status of the controller and the status of the fibre(s) can be written again to the
NV-RAM. This is done by connecting the controller to the service PC and
performing a “Quick Start” and “Scan” of all channels with the FibroManager.
The system date and the system time can be set automatically to the correct value
by connecting the controller to a service PC running the FibroManager or via
network connection to a NTP server (Network Time Protocol).
Fig. 22
Location of the battery in the controller and removal of the battery
In order to replace the battery, the housing of the controller must be opened.
1
Release and remove the housing cover of the controller.
2
The drained battery is removed from the battery holder with a pair of tweezers
by a sideways movement.
3
A new battery is inserted in the battery holder with the positive pole facing
upwards to the metal spring (+).
4
The housing cover can be mounted when all preliminary functions work
correctly, i.e. the LED’s light up at switching on.
Ensure that there are no loose parts in the housing.
Check that all screws have been tightened and that there are no screws left
over.
