Electrical installation
6.1
Safety
DANGER!
Risk of fire due to insufficient fuse protection.
Incorrect electrical connections without sufficient fuse protection pose a fire risk and
can result in moderate to serious injuries or even death.
•
Provide sufficient fuse protection for the electrical installation and do not connect the
driver assistance system directly to the vehicle battery.
6.2
Required tools
•
Fine soldering iron and solder or crimping pliers
•
Precision screwdriver
•
Diagonal cutter
•
Long nose pliers
6.3
Required accessories
•
Operating instructions for the vehicle with circuit diagrams of the vehicle's electri-
cal system
•
Cables included in scope of delivery
•
Individual cable set for connecting the sensor head and evaluation unit
•
Heat-shrinkable sleeves
•
Mounting accessories for cables (cable channels, cable ties, strain-release clamps)
6.4
Laying cables
WARNING!
Risk of damage to cables.
Cables must not be laid kinked, pulled across sharp edges, sheared, or under tension.
• Use suitable cable channels and strain-relief clamps; lay excess lengths of cable in
loops.
IMPORTANT!
In the case of mobile driver's cabs, the cables must be laid in a sufficiently dimensioned
“coil” to balance out the movement of the driver's cab.
IMPORTANT!
To make the process of laying the cables easier, use insulating tape or cable conduit to
bring together cables installed along the same route and label the cables.
Note the assignment of the connectors (male/female).
Plug connectors should be connected slightly offset.
